The June 13 Runoff Election will be a tight race for Place 1 on Bay City City Council – the May 2 election ended with eight-vote difference - and several top statewide races.
In Place 1 City Council race, Cory McCray received 239 votes for 44.67%, while Stacy L. Rowh had 231 votes, 43.18%.
Early voting will be June 1-5, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and June 8-9, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Election Day June 13 will be from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
All runoff voting, early vote and Election Day, will be the Service Center, 2105 Ave. M.
Statewide runoff races on May 26
The top state runoff races are earlier than the city runoff.
The runoff races will be on May 26, with early voting May 18-22, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., at the Bay City Service Center and the Palacios Community HUB, 1001, 5th St., Palacios.
Election Day will be 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The top race is for the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate, between incumbent John Cornyn, who is seeking his fifth term, and longtime Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton.
In the Lieutenant Governor’s race, the Democrat runoff will be between Vikki Goodwin and Marcus.
Both parties have candidates seeking the vote for Attorney General.
On the Democratic side, the candidates are Joe Jaworski and Nathan Johnson.
The Republican battle for that position pits two veteran Texas politicians – Mayes Middleton and Chip Roy.
Another Republican runoff is for Railroad Commissioner.
The two candidates are Bo French and Jim Wright.
If you voted Republican in the primary election, you could only vote on the Republican ballot in the June 13 runoff.
Same with the Democratic primary ballot. If you voted Democratic primary, then you can only vote in that party’s runoff.
So if you voted in the March primary in Matagorda County, you had to choose either the R or D ballot.
