Guns, drugs, currency taken in search warrant

   A search warrant executed in the 2900 block of Avenue I July 21, resulted in the seizure of drugs, weapons and currency, Bay City police said.  
   The search warrant was requested by the narcotics unit after spending months working to build this case. 
   At about 6:30 p.m. Friday, July 21, while armed with a search warrant, detectives observed the suspect James W. Andrews, 39, of Bay City, enter his vehicle and depart his residence, reports show.
   Detectives maintained surveillance until a marked unit could stop and detain the vehicle. 
   During the stop, Andrews was found in possession of a firearm. 
   A check on the firearm revealed
that it was stolen. 
   The firearm was seized, alongnwith cash, found in Andrews’ possession at the time of the stop.
   Officers notified Andrews of the search warrant and he was transported back to his residence in the 2900 block of Avenue I. 
    A K-9 search of the residence resulted in positive alerts through idence. 
   Narcotics Detectives seized 8.7 
pounds of cocaine, approximately 34 grams of pills believed to be Oxycodone/Fentanyl, a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana, U.S. currency in several denominations, two AR rifles, and three pistols. 
   Andrews was transported to the Matagorda County Jail where he was booked on two counts of manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance penalty group 1, and felon in possession of a firearm.
