A 50-year-old Bay City man was arrested on drug-related charges after police made a traffic stop on his vehicle for failure to dim headlights.
Police say it is illegal to drive with your bright lights on within a 100 feet or so against oncoming traffic and unsafe for other drivers.
Sergeant Marino Chavez made the traffic stop in the 1900 block of 4th Street at 12:40 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18.
After making the stop, Chavez contacted the driver and while talking to him, the officer noticed that man had something in his pockets.
Chavez asked him to step out of the car and the man became defensive and did not want to get out of the car.
After talking with him and calming him down, the man stepped out of the car.
Chavez asked him about the bulging pocket.
The man then took out the items from his pocket, reports show.
The man had 2.13 grams of prescription medication - it still has to be sent to the lab for identification - and 2.36 grams of a substance that tested positive for methamphetamines, police said.
He did not have a pill bottle or a prescription for the substance.
The driver, Brandon Osborne, 50, of Bay City, was later taken to the Matagorda County Jail and booked in for possession of controlled substance - penalty group 1 on both charges, reports show.
