"Woman tells court deputies powerless to cite rampage driver" by: Mike Reddell

A woman who said her teenage daughter’s vehicle was rammed from behind in a recent act of road rage and hit and run driving asked commissioners court why deputies let the driver go without a citation.
Ginger Evans remarks about the harrowing encounter on Texas 35 Sept. 14 came during the court’s regular meeting comments section Monday, Sept. 20.
It was the second straight week the court has been told about problems that involved Matagorda County Sheriff’s deputies.
Evans told how a driver in a Ford 250 truck rammed the rear end of her daughter’s pickup truck at speeds of 70-75 mph.
That was after the girl, 17, tried to speed up and get away, when the man driving the truck caught up, rammed her truck, and sped off, the mother said.
The girl and a passenger followed the man to get his license plate number and managed to get the man driving the truck to pull over at TC Country Store in Sugar Valley to discuss what happened on the highway.
There, the man behind the Ford 250 truck jumped out of the vehicle and became combative, yelling and cursing at the daughter and passenger.
The daughter, meanwhile, called 911 and when she told the man that officers were en route he became more combative, Evans said.
