There is a slight tick downward in reported new confirmed COVID-19 cases as reported by the Department of State Health Service (DSHS).
One measure followed are the numbers of new cases over the past 14 and 7 days.
On Tuesday, Sept. 21, DSHS reported there were 377 new cases over the prior seven days, a decrease from 390 over the same period last week.
There were 12 new cases Sunday, Sept. 19, 25 on Saturday, 12 on Friday, and 53 on Thursday, Sept. 16.
The rate of infections is 10.4 new cases per 1,000 residents, down from last week’s 13.4 new cases per 1,000.
The CDC shows 234 new cases over the previous seven days.
Overall, the county has 4,820 confirmed cases, 959 probable cases, 141 deaths and 289 active cases and 5,392 recovered.
In BCISD’s weekly posting of COVID-19 cases, 12 students tested positive – out of the district’s 3,621 students – bringing the total number of students testing positive since school began to 148.

The cum ulative total since the start of school is 179 employees testing positive out of a total of 562.
DSHS reports show that 39.8% - up from last week’s report of 37.9% - of Matagorda County residents are fully vaccinated.
The statewide total is 49.9% of Texans are fully vaccinated out of the state’s 29.1 million residents.
