"COVID-19 cases here follow trend" by: Mike Reddell

Matagorda County is on the same downward trajectory as Texas’ deadly third wave of coronavirus slows.
As of Oct. 16, 15.2 million, or 52.2%, Texans are fully vaccinated.
In Matagorda County, 42.1% of all residents are fully vaccinated.
If you factor those 12 and older, the fully vaccinated in the county is 50%, according to the Department of State Health Services (DSHS).
About 9 million eligible Texans still aren’t vaccinated, DSHS reports.
The per capita rate in the county has fallen to 2.2 cases per 1,000 residents, with 80 cases in the past 14 days.
BCISD’s weekly COVID-19 Tracker, posted Oct. 14, shows three students and two staff members have tested positive.
Overall, Matagorda County has 5,014 confirmed cases, 1,009 probable cases, 153 deaths, 58 active cases and 5,868 recovered (estimated), the DSHS said.
