The Van Vleck Leopards made for a difficult homecoming night last Friday for the Tidehaven Tigers.
With both cross-county teams carrying 2-0 district records int]o the District 14-3A-2 clash, Tidehaven fell 49-27 to Van Vleck.
Tidehaven’s game was marred by seven turnovers – four lost fumbles and three interceptions.
Tidehaven 195 yards rushing and 57 yards passing to Van Vleck’s 296 rushing yards and 89 yards passing.
“We made a ton of mistakes Friday, but we will rebound,” said Tiger Head Coach David Lucio.
“Van Vleck played a great game, and we played our worst game of the season,” Lucio added.
“Not a good combination for us.
“We checked just about every box in the list of things to screw up during a football game,” he said.
“The key is to not repeat it in the future.
“East Bernard has not lost a district game on their home field in several years,” Lucio commented on this Friday’s game.
“This is going to be a heck of a challenge for our young team.
“We have to improve our tackling and clean up the mistakes to have a prayer,” Lucio said.
Tiger quarterback Logan had 13 carries for 104 yards and a touchdown.
Tiger Chance Robinson had two carries for 13 yards and two touchdowns and Joseph Dodds had 13 carries for 80 yards and a two-point conversion.
Crow was 3 of 9 for 57 yards passing, with a touchdown and three interceptions.
Jachen Duran was the Tigers’ leading receiver with one catch for a 29-yard touchdown.
