The second annual “Dia de Los Muertos” or “Day of the Dead” festival kicks off at noon Saturday, Nov. 6, at Le Tulle Park.
The event lasts until 10 p.m. and features a variety of experiences for all ages.
Tickets are $5 per person at the gate and children five years old and under get in free.
“Tickets were available on Event Brite, but sold out,” said Bay City Tourism Manager Heidi Martinez.
“But, we’re still selling tickets at the door until we run out of room or tickets!”
Martinez said that she expected at least 3,000 attendees to show up for the cultural festival.
“We hope to continue to grow this event year after year,” she said.
“This festival has all the tradition and good feels that the adventure seeker, foodie, and family could ask for.”
Live entertainment will be provided by Aztec dancers, Tejano Highway 281, and headlining band Grupo Metal featuring Chris Perez.
There will also be a cornhole tournament and a Day of the Dead costume contest.
“We’ve got two ofrendas this year and are encouraging the community to bring a photo of their loved ones that passed,” said Martinez.
“Join us this and take part in a rich heritage and cultural festival. See firsthand the beautiful traditions unfold.”
The pumpkin patch and children’s area make a return along with face painting and a photo backdrop.
“At the end of the night we’ll also be doing our lantern release, too,” she said.
“So stay late for our sky lantern release after sunset. It’s one of the most magical moments of the day.”
There will also be vendors selling everything from food and accessories to décor and clothing.
“I’ve still got a few openings for vendors, so, if they’re interested I can be reached at the city,” she said.
“We’ve also got ‘The Happy Bar’ that’ll be serving, too. We want everyone to drink and celebrate responsibly.”
