The Blackcats fell 43-6 to Stafford at home last Friday, capping a disappointing season.
Bay City finished with a 0-5, 2-7 mark for the season.
Bay City’s lone score came from the opening moments of the third quarter, when quarterback Joel Davalos connected with wide receiver David Perez for a 68-yard touchdown pass play.
Perez had a game-high 137 receiving yards on four catches.
Freshman running back Jada Andrews had two catches for 39 yards.
Davalos 11 of 23 for 208 passing yards with three interceptions and Perez’s touchdown.
Bay City had 234 passing yards, with Jamorrious Abbott throwing for 26 yards.
Stafford held the Blackcats to 42 yards rushing.
The Spartans had 352 total offensive yards to Bay City’s 276.
Defensively, Isaiah Gonzales had 10 tackles, followed by Joshua Williams with nine, Karius Luster with seven, and Ayden Smith with six.
Jahmari Johnson and Carlon Jones each had four tackles.
Blackcat Head Coach Robert Jones was asked about the game with Stafford and his reflection on the season.
“My reflection from the season is what I expected with losing a large senior class and playing in a tough district like ours - we were going to struggle,” Jones said.
“But I’m proud of my kids and coaches for coming to work every day at practice and competing every week to get better.
“The game against Stafford went a lot like all the previous games - we would find a way to shoot ourselves in the foot and the opponent would capitalize off it,” Jones remarked.
“We will be very experienced next year with so many guys returning next year.
“We are going to have a great off season and without a doubt I really believe we will get one of those playoff spots next year,” he noted.
“We are returning at least nine on each side of the ball, so the leadership will be there that we did not have this year in the locker room.”
