Bay City police investigated a disturbance involving a man waving a gun around in the 3200 block of Avenue F shortly before 1 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 31.
While en route, officers were told that the suspect was trying to leave in a dark-colored Dodge pickup.
Upon arrival, officers observed the suspect vehicle trying to back out of the alley.
When the driver of that vehicle saw the officers, he pulled back in and left the vehicle, attempting to approach the back door of the residence.
Officers could hear several people screaming “get down,” and ran to the area.
Police said they patted down the suspect for weapons and detained in the back of a patrol unit while officers investigated further.
After speaking with witnesses, police determined the suspect arrived at the party after an earlier altercation between a family member and party goers.
In addition, the police said the man began waving the gun around placing those attending the party to fear for their safety, police said.
He tried to leave in his vehicle when officers arrived.
Officers walked around the man’s vehicle and through the window observed a gun in plain view.
Adrian Zepeda, 21, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and transported to the Matagorda County Jail.
