"Blackcat swimmers compete in Ft. Bend, Tri-meet" By Bob Button BCHS Swimming Coach

Our swimmers traveled to Ft. Bend for a quad meet Thursday, Nov. 18, vs. Bush, Hightower, & Sweeny and we hosted a tri-meet Saturday, Nov. 20, with Faith West and Saint John XXIII.
Results for each meet are attached and notes for each meet are below.
Our next meet is the Brazosport Invite in early December.
   Ft. Bend Notes:
Our four (4) girls managed a one-point win over a Hightower team that had more than twice as many swimmers.
Our quality - led by swimmer of the meet Lucie Frick - overcame their depth.
Frick dominated her individual events, lapping the field in both the 200 and 500 freestyles.
Our boy swimmer of the meet was Daniel Dye.
He sprinted to a win in the 50 free and went a season-best in the 100 free.
   Tri-Meet Notes:
Since each squad had limited numbers, the coaches came up with an alternate meet format that was fun for the kids and allowed us to have a very competitive meet.
St. John XXIII got out in front of us early - they led by 20 after the girls’ IM - even though we were swimming quite well ourselves.
We managed to even the score midway through the meet and it would have come down to that last relay if the Lions hadn’t run out of swimmers.
No way to choose our swimmers of the meet for this one!
Our kids made up the line-up, so it was truly a team effort on their part.
We had plenty of events where they chose to swim outside their specialties in order to help their teammates.
