Palacios Chamber of Commerce announces banquet speaker, Chet Garner, host of the popular The Daytripper program Chet Garner will be the featured speaker at the 2022 Palacios Chamber of Commerce banquet Feb. 17, 2022, at the Palacios Recreation Center in Palacios.
Garner is the creator, host, and executive producer of The Daytripper, now in its thirteenth PBS season.
The show has won 12 Lone Star Emmys including 4 for “Outstanding Program Host,” and is well on its way to becoming a Texas institution.
Garner earned a degree in Radio-Television-Film from the University of Texas at Austin and went on to graduate first in his class from Baylor Law School. However, after practicing law for three years, he decided to follow his passions and simultaneously inspire folks to appreciate the beauty, history, and food of the Lone Star State.
What followed was a crash course in travel, filmmaking, marketing, and doing whatever it takes to start a successful TV show.
When not traveling Chet is at home in Georgetown, with his wife and five children – although he’s usually got them on the road too.
The annual chamber banquet, now in its 45th year, is held to honor local citizens and businesses who have contributed to the growth and welfare of the city.
The awards consist of Woman of the Year, Man of the Year, and Business of the Year.
