A 27-year-old Midfield man was arrested March 9 for the fatal shooting of a 34-year-old Van Vleck man on property west of Midfield, off Texas 111, Lt. Philip Hester, with the Matagorda County Sheriff’s Department said.
Cody Glenn Clegg, 34, of Van Vleck, was driven to Matagorda Regional Medical Center by private vehicle with a gunshot wound to the head around 6 a.m. Wednesday, March 9, Hester said.
Clegg was then flown by Life Flight helicopter to a Houston area Hospital, Hester added.
An investigation was launched by the Bay City Police Department, the Matagorda County Sheriff’s Office and the Texas Rangers to search for the vehicle and persons involved in this incident.
That investigation showed the shooting happened at a property west of Midfield, off Texas 111.
In the early evening of. David Anthony Ramirez, 27, of Midfield, was arrested and charged with murder, Wednesday, March 9, Hester said.
The investigation continues and additional information could be released later.
