Bay City Police Officer Andy Hallman completed the K9 Single Purpose Narcotics Basic Handlers Course April 29.
Hallman graduated from Houston K9 Academy with 14 other students, many of them law enforcement officers from across the U.S., some of them student instructors.
Hallman completed the intense 160 hours of training and is the newest BCPD certified K9 handler.
Hallman completed an honorable 20-year career with the U.S. Marines before joining BCPD.
“We would also like to recognize the newest addition to our police force,” said Chief Robert Lister.
“K9 Bulifwy - pronounced “Bull Vi” - is a Belgian Malinois and is 2 and ½ years old, Lister noted.
The chief was on hand to witness Hallman’s graduation from the course.
Purchase of the K9 and the training were made possible by seized drug funds, BCPD reported.
“Hallman and Bulifwy are eager to serve the community and hope to help stop the flow of illegal drugs in the community,” Lister said.
