Police seek whereabouts of woman, child in custody case

Bay City police are seeking information on a mother and her one-year-old child who are missing in a child custody case, reports show.
The police investigation began about 3 p.m. May 24 when Sgt. Minerva Pena was sent to the police department to speak with a complainant.
Upon arrival she spoke with someone attempting to serve papers on Andrea Montoya regarding child custody.
Pena was advised they were unable to locate Montoya or her one-year-old child, Francisco Jimenez.
Pena talked with the child’s father, who is also named Francisco Jimenez.
Jimenez told Pena he had not seen his son since Oct. 6, 2021, due to Montoya not letting him contact his son.
Jimenez said he heard rumors that his son was possibly dead.
Through an investigation, Pena was told by several people that Montoya and her children had moved.
A visit to her listed address and a conversation with her landlord revealed that Montoya had indeed moved and did not leave a forwarding address.
Montoya and Francisco were entered into the missing person database and the case was turned over to investigators.
Investigators checked all known addresses and phone numbers associated with Montoya with negative results.
Investigators began hearing rumors about Montoya and the child. Montoya’s photo was posted to the Bay City Facebook page to help locate them.
Det. Richard Morales is the investigator on this case.
He has received several calls on the case and is following up on the information being given.
As of this time, Montoya and Francisco have not been located.
Anyone with information is asked to call 979-245-8500 and speak to Morales.
