A 21-year-old Bay City man was charged with burglary and other complaints after several Bay City police officers were sent to a 7th Street area early Monday morning, Aug. 23, police said.
Jonathan M. Gomez, 21, of Bay City was charged with two counts of burglary of a habitation, evading arrest/detention, assault against a public servant, and three traffic warrants, reports show.
Officers were sent to 51 7th Street at 2:11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 23, in reference to a burglary in progress.
Dispatch notified officers there was a man inside the residence with a firearm. Moments later, as officers were en route, dispatch told officers that there were possibly multiple armed subjects running in the trailer park, police said.
Several officers flooded the area and Officer Jeromy Washington encountered a man matching the description of one of the suspects behind Shades Bar.
He was later identified as Gomez, police said.
The suspect ran from Washington.
More officers arrived and surrounded the area and took the man into custody.
Once in custody, the suspect made threats to kill officers and spit in one of their faces.
Through their investigation, officers were able to determine two residences has been burglarized.
They also learned that Gomez was the only suspect involved, police said.
Nobody was injured during either of the burglaries.
Gomez was transported to the Matagorda County Jail and booked on charges.
