"Collection Day for Household Hazardous Waste Oct.1" by: Jessica Shepard

   The Annual Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day is scheduled for 8 a.m. - noon Saturday, Oct. 1, at the Matagorda County Fairgrounds. 
   Household hazardous waste is any product labeled: toxic, corrosive, poison, flammable, combustible, or an irritant that you are ready for disposal. 
   This also includes things such as used batteries, pool chemicals, pesticides, and herbicides as well as household cleaners. 
   A limit of eight tires will be taken per household, but they cannot be tractor or semi tires. 
   Electronic waste such as computers, printers, or cell phones will also be accepted. 
   Baycel FCU is providing free personal paper shredding to help avoid identity theft. 
   Do not bring: 

  •     Farm/Business waste 
  •     Explosives 
  •     TVs 
  •     Newspapers or magazines 
  •     Farm or business waste 
  •     Radioactive materials 
  •     Dioxins 
  •     Compressed gas cylinders
