Fire Marshal graduates from executive training course

   Fire Marshal Dan Shook graduated from the Bill Blackwood Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas Fire Executive Management Training (FEMT) class 7 Friday, Nov. 11.  
   The training consisted of 80 hours in two modules that started in May 2020.  
   The fire marshal said he is excited to bring what he has learned from this valuable training to the City of Bay City.
   The Law Enforcement Management Institute has partnered with the Texas Fire Marshals’ Association to provide the first executive management training session for the discipline in the nation. 
   The program addresses the professional qualifications for fire marshals and evaluates the knowledge, skills and abilities needed to meet essential tasks of the job based on National Fire Protection Association standards. 
   The program also focuses on the day-to-day operations of the job as well as community risk assessments and resource distribution.
