BCPD replaces mobile radar sign

Bay City Police Department has recently acquired a new radar speed trailer.
This is to replace the old trailer that was destroyed in a motor vehicle accident.
The radar trailer can be deployed to any location within the community.
These signs have been shown to reduce traffic speeds, and Bay City PD hopes to see similar results.
Often times local residents express their concerns about speeding vehicles in several locations throughout our community.
This mobile radar speed trailer will allow BCPD to move the sign to whatever location needs it the most.
Also, because the sign will be moved frequently, it will be more likely to catch drivers’ attention, rather than becoming something they get used to and then no longer really see.
The radar speed trailer, a SAM model from Stalker Radar, can also track and store the speed and count of all vehicles passing the sign, so Bay City PD can better understand and address traffic patterns throughout the city, and can more effectively deploy traffic enforcement officers exactly when and where they are needed the most.
Slowing down traffic is one of the most effective ways of reducing accidents and traffic fatalities.
“It is our goal to reduce those numbers, and this radar sign will help us meet that goal,” said Police Chief Christella Rodriguez.
