The hard freeze that struck Matagorda County Dec. 22-24 resulted in low water pressure from people running their faucets, according to an alert issued by the City of Bay City Saturday, Dec. 24.
“Due to everyone running their faucets there will be very low water pressure throughout town,” the alert indicated.
“No water has been turned off, in certain areas pipes have been busted.
“We understand that it’s an inconvenience,” the city announcement indicated.
“Our city workers have been working on fixing it to get everything done quickly.
The Saturday alert added that “It’s gonna be another cold night, please be safe and stay warm.”
The National Weather Service (NWS), indicated that with the hard freeze the temperatures dropped quickly into the 30’s and 20’s and wind chill made temperatures feel like they were in the 10’s or 1’s.
Several residents throughout the city indicated on social media that they lost water service for more than a day.
