Fire destroyed a trailer at 2517 Nichols at about 6:32 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 8, Fire Marshal Dan Shook said.
First responding units Bay City Fire Department and Bay City Police Department identified smoke showing from the trailer at 2517 Nichols, unit No.56, which quickly increased to smoke and fire.
The fire and smoke damage was contained to the trailer, the fire marshal said.
The owner of the trailer left for work about 45 minutes before the fire, so no one was home at the time of the fire.
A neighbor out for a walk noticed the smoke coming from the trailer and called 9-1-1, Shook remarked.
The fire consumed the whole trailer before it was extinguished by the fire department, he added.
The fire was brought under control in about an hour. Damage to the trailer and personal property was estimated to be about $5,000.
The fire marshal listed the fire as undetermined pending additional investigation.
