BCHS Swim Coach
BCHS swimmers traveled to Freeport & El Campo for the District 12-4A last week.
Diving was held on Thursday at the Bob Leffingwell Natatorium and swimming events were contested on Friday at the El Campo Aquatic Center.
Top eight (8) finishers in each event scored team points & top four (4) finishers advance to region.
Advancing to region for the Blackcats:
Girls
Megan Moya (1st in 500 free & 3rd 100 breaststroke)
Victoria Sliva (1st in 200 individual medley)
Lucie Frick (2nd in both 50 & 100 free)
Girls’ 400 free relay of Sliva, Moya, Kaydence Sanchez , & Frick (1st)
Girls’ 200 free relay of Sliva, Moya, Sanchez, & Frick (2nd)
Boys
Michael Vargas (2nd in both 50 & 100 free)
Jomar Baez (1st in both 200 free & 100 breaststroke)
Ian Ramos (1st in 1m diving)
Boy’s 200 free relay of Vargas, Baez, Ashton Rabun, & Ramos (4th)
As this year marks the start of the new UIL 4A swim/dive division, all event-winning times/scores established District 12-4A records.
Texas Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association (TISCA) award-winners for Bay City were Ian Ramos (Boys’ Diver of the Year) and Clare Button (Boys’ Diving Coach of the Year).
The swimmers compete in the Region III-4A championships January 26/27 in Houston.
