A fire that caused about $15,000 to a Tres Palacios residences was deliberately set and a suspect was arrested and charged with arson, Fire Marshal Dan Shook said.
Fire departments were sent to a fire at 74 Royal Oaks St., Tres Palacios, at 4:21 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3.
Shook assisted the Matagorda County Sheriff’s Department with the investigation of the fire.
The fire was suspicious in nature - a recently evicted occupant was seen by a neighbor just prior to the fire’s start - Shook said.
The Fire Marshal confirmed the fire was arson, and sheriff deputies arrested a suspect who was charged with arson of habitation, a felony 1, Shook reported.
The fire department put out the fire in a couple of hours.
Damage to the structure was estimated at $15,000, the fire marshal said.
No one was injured during the incident.
The Matagorda County Sheriff’s Office is continuing with the investigation.
