An arsonist who is believed connected to previous small fires is suspected of setting a fire at a trailer at 2420 5th St., Thursday, March 9, Bay City Fire Marshal Dan Shook said.
Bay City Volunteer Fire Department was sent to the trailer fire at 2420 5th St trailer B, Bay City, at about 5:33 a.m., Shook said.
The Fire Marshal investigated the fire and identified multiple points of origin originating over several days.
Previous small fires were not reported to the fire department, but all fires are believed to have been set by the same suspect, the Fire Marshal noted.
Evidence was collected at the scene and the fire incident continues to be under investigation, he added.
The fire department was able to extinguish the fire in less than an hour.
Damage to the structure was estimated to be around $5,000.
One person was home at the time of the fire. There were no reported injuries during the incident.
