An inmate escaped from a Brazoria County prison unit Sunday evening and led law enforcement on a manhunt before being captured early Monday in Matagorda County.

zoria County Sheriff’s Office. Yancy had been serving a life sentence in the Clemens Unit for aggravated sexual assault of a child. The charge stems from a case in Victoria County, officials said.
Investigators determined the man escaped from Brazoria County around 3:30 p.m. Sunday and left the prison in a white vehicle. Detectives shortly after received notification that the vehicle’s license plate was spotted in Victoria County just after 6 p.m.
Deputies have arrested two others in connection with Yancy’s escape, officials said.
