Tenaris is partnering with the Matagorda County Fair & Livestock Show (MCFLA) to introduce a new scholarship, the Tenaris Bay City Scholarship for Agricultural Sustainability, for a total of $50,000 in awards.
The scholarship will benefit the 42 students participating in this year’s Commercial Heifer Pen of Three competition.
“The impact is huge for the recipients, as they use the scholarship monies for their education. Most go on to get degrees or technology certifications and even their master’s or doctorates. Many of them will come back to Matagorda County to contribute as teachers, engineers, doctors, nurses, or even to further grow the family ranch,” said Leissa Schrader, Matagorda County Fair Association manager.
Tenaris has been an active partner in Matagorda County since 2013 when it broke ground on its seamless pipe mill.
The company has supported the Fair, celebrating 80 years of history, through sponsorships of various events.
“We value the work of the Fair and appreciate their partnership, encouraging youth to get involved, to learn about the field of agriculture, and develop business skills and put them in action,” said Matthew Gullett, Tenaris community relations manager.
“This is an incredible project and we’re proud to lend our support to recognize the leadership these students embody in managing a range of responsibilities leading up to the exhibit and sale of their animals,”
