Van Vleck Lady Leps begin season with win over Tidehaven

   The Van Vleck Lady Leopard Softball team kicked off the 2024 season last week with a 3-1-1 record.
  The Lady Leps lost a tough one Tuesday night to rival Tidehaven by a score 6-5 in extra innings.
  Leading hitters for the Leps were Kiera Reis 2-5 2 RBIs, Alexa Zuniga 1-4 2RBIs, Lakyn Matchett 1-3, Adia Kyle 1-4 1RBI, Kylie Sazera 1-3, and Michelle-Rose Mirelez 1-2.
  The Lady Leps competed at the Rice Consolidated Tournament over the weekend and finished with a 3-0-1 record.
  In the first game the Lady Leps defeated Sealy 1-0. Lakyn Matchett led the way in the circle with 12 strikeouts and picked up her first win on the season. 
  Leading hitters were Olivia Britton with her first Home Run on the season. Also picking up hits were Kylie Sazera, Keira Reis, Cydnee Hahn, Lakyn Matchett and Michelle-Rose Mirelez.
  In game two the Lady Leps played a tough Smithville squad and ended with a tie 5-5. Once again Lakyn Matchett was in the circle and had 7 strikeouts. 
  Leading hitters were Kylie Sazera who was 2-2 and a Home Run. Alexa Zuniga 2-2, Olivia Britton and Keira Reis also picked up hits in the contest.
  The Lady Leps finished the tournament on Saturday and defeated Sealy and Rice Consolidated.
  In the Sealy game the Leps won by a score of 4-3. Keira Reis picked up her first win of the season and had 5 strikeouts. Lakyn Matchett and Serenity Suarez went 2-3 and Keira Reis and Kylie Sazera picked up hits as well.
  The Leps finished the day by defeating Rice Consolidated by a score of 12-0. Keira Reis picked up the win and had 6 strikeouts.
  Leading hitters were Nicole Ryman 3-3, Keira Reis 3-3, Alexa Zuniga 2-3, Olivia Britton 1-1, Lakyn Matchett 1-2, Kylie Sazera 1-2, Aamry Guiterrez 1-2. Serenity Suarez 1-2 and Michelle-Rose Mirelez 1-1.
