Multiple injuries caused by crash

   Eight people – three adults and five children – were hurt in a vehicle accident at Avenue F and Grace Street at about 7:40 a.m. Friday, March 1.
  Bay City Police Department, Bay City Volunteer Fire Department, Bay City Fire Marshal, and Matagorda County EMS were dispatched to the crash at the corner of Grace and Avenue F (Texas 60).
  The first arriving police officer notified dispatch there were multiple injuries and one driver was entrapped inside the vehicle. 
  The Fire Marshal, a licensed paramedic, provided patient care until EMS arrived on scene. 
  The Fire Department used specialized extrication tools to remove the crushed door from one of the vehicles, freeing the driver from the vehicle. 
  In total, three adults and five juveniles were transported by multiple ambulances to Matagorda Regional Medical Center Emergency Room for minor injuries. Currently, the Bay City Police Department is investigating the cause of the accident. 
  According to the Texas Department of Transportation’s 2022 report, the most common cause of a crash in urban Texas was for failing to control speed. 
  Driver inattention was the second most common cause of a crash in urban Texas. 
  Be sure to pay attention to your surroundings when driving on the road and drive the posted speed limits. 
  Always wear your seatbelt and children should always be in their proper restraint device.
