TxDOT to replace FM 521 bridge over Tres Palacios

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) began replacing the bridge and approaches on FM 521 over the Tres Palacios River Monday, March 18, with a projected completion in late Fall.
The project timeline is subject to weather conditions.
TxDOT announced that Euless-based Ragle Construction, Inc. is the contractor for this project.
Ragle was awarded the contract with a bid of $6,283,882.
TxDOT established the detour routes that will take the traveling public north to Texas 35 east and west using FM 1095 and Texas 35 south of Blessing.
Matagorda County Emergency Coordinator Amanda Campos asked the public “to plan ahead while traveling this part of Matagorda County”.
“There will be disruptions to those who use that route communing to and from work and the school bus routes established by the Palacios ISD.
“Our team has representation from all law enforcement agencies and county leadership teams, and industrial partners.
“They continue to meet and discuss expectations and to reduce the impact of this closure,” she added.
“Communicating with our local industry is very important so they can re-route their trucks to avoid the delays.
“Our plan calls for constant communication between TXDOT, the traveling public, the trucking industry, and the Port of of Bay City”, Campos said.
“The goal of the Emergency Operations Center is the health and safety of every citizen and visitor to our county,” said County Judge Bobby Seiferman.
