BC man arrested for sexual assault of child

Bay City police arrested a 49-year-old Bay City man on an active warrant charging him with aggravated sexual assault of a child.
Humberto Sanchez was arrested on the aggravated sexual assault of a child charge at his home in the 3700 block of 4th Street at 8:19 p.m. Wednesday, March 13.
The investigation of Sanchez began when Child Protective Service (CPS) was informed that a child had made an outcry that they had been sexually assaulted.
The initial CPS referral and police report were filed in Liberty County, but the report was transferred to Bay City because the sexual assault occurred in Bay City.
The investigation led to probable cause for the issuance of a warrant signed by Judge S. Thompson of the Bay City Municipal Court.    The joint effort of the Bay City Police Department’s Detective and Narcotics divisions led to the arrest of Sanchez, who was taken to Matagorda County Jail.
Sanchez could face life in prison if found guilty, police said.
