Two men were arrested and jailed on several charges, including weapons and drug complaints, after a May 5 traffic stop, Bay City police said.
Around 9:40 p.m. Saturday, May 5, at, officers were told there was a wanted man riding around Bay City.
The suspect, Cardell D. Monroe Jr., 20, of Bay City, had outstanding felony warrants.
Officer Dillan Wakefield located the vehicle Monroe was said to be occupying and made an investigatory stop in the 4800 block of Avenue F.
Upon approaching the vehicle, Wakefield saw the back passenger side window was broken.
He was able to look in the back seat and saw Monroe laying down in the back seat.
Wakefield had Monroe exit the vehicle and he was placed in custody.
During the pat down, officers retrieved two loaded .40 caliber handgun magazines in Monroe’s pockets, along with a bag containing a green leafy substance and pills.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as Camron D. Evans, 20, of Bay City.
He was detained due to the possibility of a firearm being in the vehicle.
Upon searching the vehicle, a loaded handgun was located.
Officers also found a loaded magazine in the driver’s seat and a green leafy substance in the driver’s door.
Evans was then placed under arrest.
Both subjects were transported to the Matagorda County Jail.
Monroe was charged with outstanding warrants for aggravated robbery, evading arrest/detention in a motor vehicle, unlawfully carrying a weapon – motion to revoke probation, evading – motion to revoke, and possession of marijuana.
