Chief urges safe driving

   Dear Bay City Residents,
Over the past few weeks, our community has experienced an unfortunate increase in traffic accidents.
As your Police Chief, the safety of our residents is my top priority, and I want to take this opportunity to remind everyone of the importance of safe driving.
  Please remember to:
   1. **Observe Speed Limits**:
Speeding is a major factor in many accidents. Stick to posted speed limits, especially in residential areas and school zones.
  2. **Avoid Distractions**: Distracted driving, particularly using a phone while behind the wheel, can have devastating consequences.
Focus on the road and keep your hands on the wheel.
  3. **Buckle Up**: Wearing a seatbelt is one of the simplest and most effective ways to protect yourself in a car.
Ensure everyone in your vehicle is buckled up, every time.
  4. **Be Mindful of Pedestrians and Cyclists**:
Our roads are shared spaces. Always check for pedestrians and cyclists, especially at crosswalks and intersections.
  5. **Never Drive Under the Influence**:
Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is not only illegal but extremely dangerous.
Plan ahead for a safe way to get home if you’ve been drinking.
We all share the responsibility of keeping Bay City’s roads safe.
By following these guidelines, we can reduce accidents and keep our community safe. Let’s work together to make our roads safer for everyone.
Thank you for your attention to this critical issue.
Let’s all do our part to ensure that everyone in Bay City arrives at their destination safely.
  Sincerely,
  Christella Rodriguez
  Chief of Police, Bay City
