George Hawkins of Bay City Sr. (46) was booked on two outstanding warrants, along with additional drug-related charges, on Tuesday, Nov. 26.
Narcotics Sergeant Joe Bruno and Narcotics Detective Tommy Hallman saw Hawkins and Bruno had previous knowledge of Hawkins having two outstanding felony warrants for drug offenses, due to Hawkins being investigated for Narcotics.
Bruno checked with the dispatcher on duty to confirm that the warrants were still valid – they were.
Bruno made a pedestrian stop of Hawkins in the 1700 block of Palm Village.
Hawkins was placed in custody and a search incident to arrest was conducted.
Hawkins had a plastic baggie with several Hydrocodone and Xanax tablets.
While conducting the search, Bruno saw Hawkins throw a plastic bag behind him.
After retrieving the baggie, he observed that the baggie contained a white substance that later tested positive for cocaine.
Hawkins was booked in the MCSO Jail on the two outstanding warrants, along with Manufacturing and Delivery of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Controlled Substance, and Tampering with Physical Evidence.
