This year Christmas Eve falls on Tuesday, Dec. 24, and Christmas Day is Wednesday, Dec. 25.
That means that many local businesses are closed in observance of the holiday starting Monday, Dec. 23, and will re-open at regular business hours Thursday, Dec. 26.
The U.S. Postal Service, banks, and other federal offices will only be closed on Christmas Day.
Regular Post Office hours and mail delivery will resume on Thursday.
Matagorda County courthouse is open regular hours Tuesday, Dec. 24.
The courthouse is closed Wednesday-Thursday, Dec. 25-26, and re-opens to normal business hours on Friday, Dec. 27.
The City of Bay City, Bay City Public Library, and City Hall are closed for Christmas Eve and Day.
Bay City and Tidehaven ISD students have Christmas Break starting Friday, Dec. 20, until Monday, Jan. 6, and will return to regular hours on Tuesday, Jan. 7.
Van Vleck ISD students were released Wednesday, Dec. 18, have Christmas break until Tuesday, Jan. 7, and will return to regular school hours on Wednesday, Jan. 8.
The Bay City Sentinel office will be closed for Christmas observance starting Monday. Dec. 23, and return to normal business hours Thursday, Dec. 26
