Postal Bill could help Sargent get ZIP code

A memo from U.S. Rep Troy Nehls office to County Judge Bobby Seiferman and Precinct 2 Commissioner Mike Estlinbaum called their attention to a post office bill affecting Matagorda County.
"We wanted to bring to your attention that H.R. 8753, introduced by Rep. Lauren Boebert, will be on the House floor," the memo advised.
"The bill would direct the United States Postal Service to designate a single, unique ZIP Code for 45 different communities, including Sargent, TX.
"In crafting this legislation, Rep. Nehls worked with their office to include Sargent, TX as one of these communities to designate a single, unique zip code.
"We know that there had long been a concerted effort to get this done for Sargent and we are glad to see this bill finally be brought up for a vote and pass the House this week.
"Rep. Nehls will also be speaking on the House floor today in favor of this legislation.”
Estlinbaum noted in a Facebook post that he hopes the government will "finish the post office construction in Matagorda so my constituents can do US Mail things like everyone else in the United States."
