"BC man faces several charges for firing gun" by: Mike Reddell

   An 18-year-old Bay City man faces multiple charges in connection with firing a gun at a Cottonwood residence early Sunday morning, reports show.
  Zeferino Vargas, 18, was booked into Matagorda County Jail for the following charges: deadly conduct discharge firearm, assault on a peace officer, and resist arrest, search, or seizure, police said.
  Police went to the area of 2700 Block of Cottonwood after multiple calls of gunshots in the area about 12:30 a.m. Sunday, April 13, reports show.
  When officers arrived, they saw several vehicles leaving the area.  
  Police contacted several juveniles who said they asked the suspect to leave the party.  
  The man walked outside to the driveway area and started to shoot a gun.  
  Officers located 11 shell casings throughout the driveway.  
  Two vehicles were struck by bullets and at least two rounds went through a residence.  
  Officers went to Vargas’s residence to talk to him.  After gathering enough information, they attempted to detain him, police said.  
  Vargas started to resist officers.  
  At one point, the man attempted to reach for a knife and a gun and was actively kicking officers, reports show.  
  Officers were able to arrest Vargas.
