EDITOR’S NOTE: Matagorda County Grants Administrator Crystal Morones was asked about some different local grant-fund projects.
Morones provided an overview of those projects in the report that follows.
Matagorda County received a total of $8,048,300 for Water and Sewer Improvements.
Because this is such a large project, it was spilt into two contracts, the first one is Contract No. 24-065-093-E769 - $4,323,025
The scope of works include the following:
Upgrade, harden and increase the resiliency of the existing water lines, well and water treatment systems infrastructure.
In addition, the county shall harden and increase the resiliency of the existing sewer and wastewater treatment systems infrastructure.
This project includes the following:
1. River Oaks Water System Improvements: Acquire land, install pipe, gate valves, service taps, a water well with controls, tank and electrical service, disinfection equipment, pave, and complete associated appurtenances.
2. Van Vleck 4th-8th St Water Line Improvements: Install pipe, fire hydrants, and complete associated appurtenances.
3. Wadsworth Water System Improvements: Install a water well, controls, pipe, and complete associated appurtenances.
4. Wadsworth Sewer System Improvements: Install a chlorine contact chamber, clarifier, pipe, electrical service, and complete associated appurtenances.
5. Van Vleck Water System Improvements: Install a pressure tank, pump, pump enclosure, and complete associated appurtenances.
6. Selkirk Water Well Improvements: Install generator pads, generators, controls, booster pumps, a water meter, conduit, switches, and complete associated appurtenances.
7. Van Vleck 6th St Sewer Line Improvements: Install pipe, manholes, and complete associated appurtenances.
8. Selkirk Water Line Improvements: Install pipe, valves and fittings, service connections, and complete associated appurtenances.
Matagorda County Water and Sewer Improvements – Contract No. 24-065-092-E768 - $3,725,275
The county shall harden sewer system infrastructure and increase its capacity and resiliency.
In addition, the county shall harden the water system infrastructure and increase its capacity and resiliency.
The project includes the following:
1. Markham Sewer System Improvements: Replace sewer lines, rehabilitate manholes, replace the sludge thickening/holding tank, and complete associated appurtenances.
2. Midfield Sewer System Improvements: Construct a new wastewater treatment plant, main lift station, and complete associated appurtenances.
3. Blessing Ave B to Ave C Water Line Improvements: Replace water lines, install fire hydrants, and complete associated appurtenances.
4. Matagorda Water System Improvements: Install a new hydropneumatics tank, air compressors, master meters, booster pumps, pipes, replace electrical controls, construct a disinfection room, install new plant controls, replace exhaust fan, door, scale, and complete associated appurtenances.
5. Blessing Elm and 11th St Water Line Improvements: Replace water lines, install fire hydrants, and complete associated appurtenances.
