Person who jumped fence on VVISD property in custody

Following a pursuit and police chase from Texas 35 last week, Van Vleck ISD was placed in a Secure Hold districtwide, according to Superintendent Christie Dement.
The elementary was surrounded by officers and the district’s safety team.
An individual left the nearby neighborhood and jumped the elementary fence, Dement said.
The DPS, County, & VVPD apprehended the person immediately.
“The Secure Hold was initiated when the person was in the neighborhood and when the individual proceeded to jump the VVE recess area fence, we were then quickly put on a districtwide lockdown,” Dement explained.
“Secure Lockdown was lifted and everyone is safe,” she said.
“The suspect in this morning’s police chase on Hwy 35 is in custody.
“Please contact me or any supervisor any time,” Dement said.
“A shout out to all the DPS, County law enforcement, & Van Vleck PD for the apprehension of the person so quickly, and what a great job by the VVISD safety team.”
