Matagorda County Commissioner Mike Estlinbaum successfully completed his first of four sessions in the Commissioners Court Leadership Academy.
CCLA is a rigorous two-year program hosted by the V.G. Young Institute of County Government which is part of the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service.
The program is designed to enhance leadership effectiveness and deepen understanding of governmental systems among county commissioners across Texas.
Commissioner Estlinbaum’s participation in the CCLA reflects a strong commitment to public service and to the residents of Matagorda County.
The Academy focuses on four critical areas of development to equip county judges and commissioners with the knowledge and tools needed to lead effectively in today’s evolving civic landscape:
Understanding Government Systems – Participants gain in-depth knowledge of the origins, structures, and operations of county government, and explore the dynamic interrelationships among local, state, and federal systems.
Strengthening Communication – The program sharpens interpersonal and communication skills, helping commissioners more effectively engage with community members, colleagues, media, and other elected officials.
Enhancing Leadership – Training modules focus on personal leadership development and strategic decision-making to empower participants to better represent their constituents and lead with integrity.
Advocating for Counties – Commissioners are prepared to serve as informed, effective advocates for county interests at all levels of government.
“I am honored to be a part of the Commissioners Court Leadership Academy and grateful for the opportunity to further develop the skills necessary to better serve Matagorda County,” said Commissioner Estlinbaum.
“This training is an important step in helping local government leaders address challenges, represent our communities, and make informed decisions that shape our future.”
Commissioner Estlinbaum is on track to complete the full CCLA program within the two-year timeline, joining a distinguished group of Texas county officials who are setting the standard for excellence of local leadership.
