This is the second year in a row that Van Vleck High School Softball Coach Rebecca Hanson was named Texas High School Coaches Association (THSCA) Region 5 3A Coach of the Year for softball.
She is also at 190 wins in her head coaching career.
"Hanson's honor is the reflection of the hard work and heart her team brings every day reflects from leadership of her coaching staff,"according to a VVISD Facebook post.
"Beyond the field, Coach Hanson has lead initiatives like their “Little Sister” mentorship program and champion causes close to her heart, including autism awareness."
The softball program adopted two families in the community during Christmas.
"This season, we made another strong playoff run, but what truly makes it special is the impact we’re making both in the game and in our community", Hanson said.
