EOC posts Gulf storm warning

From Mitch Thames
Matagorda County EOC Public Information Officer

The Matagorda County Emergency Operations Center (EOC) is actively monitoring a developing low-pressure system off the coast of Florida.
Forecasts indicate the system may enter the Gulf by late Tuesday, with a 20–30% chance of tropical development over the next week.
Regardless of its evolution, the disturbance is expected to bring significant rainfall to Southeast Texas, raising the risk of flash flooding from mid- to late week.
Matagorda County Judge Bobby Seiferman emphasized that the county’s top priority is the health and safety of all residents and visitors.
“Our greatest concern remains the coastal areas - especially low-lying zones prone to flooding,” he said.
Emergency officials have boosted communications and coordination with local government, public safety departments, and utility partners.
The City of Bay City and City of Palacios have crews on standby, prepared to respond as conditions warrant.
With the EOC currently operating at Level 2, teams are monitoring meteorological updates and river levels.
