Racing in Bay City leads to arrest of 4 people

   An Avenue F drag racing incident ended in the arrest of four people Monday, Sept. 8, Bay City police said. 
  Sergeant Jerome Estrada observed a 2019 Chevrolet Camaro and a 2021 Dodge Challenger racing in the 3500 block of Ave. F, just after midnight Sept. 8.  
  As Estrada stopped the Dodge, he saw Officer Demi Bujnoch on a side street and had her stop the Camaro.  
  Estrada contacted the driver of the Dodge, Jose Flores Jr., 19, and arrested him for drag racing- acceleration, contest, reports show.  
  Estrada also reported that he saw an open case of 16-ounce beer on the backseat of the floorboard.  
  Estrada then contacted the passenger, Julio Bernal III, 19, and had him step from the vehicle.  
  Estrada then made a probable cause search of the vehicle and found a gun underneath the driver’s seat and another underneath the passenger’s seat. A scale, with what Estrada suspected was marijuana residue, was also found in the car, reports show.  
  While Estrada conducted this investigation, Rosanna Huerta, 37, showed up on scene and was arrested for interfere with public duties. 
  Police said she was warned to return to her car several times. Both Flores and Bernal were arrested for unlawfully carrying a weapon and possession of drug paraphernalia.  
  Bujnoch had identified the driver of the Chevrolet as Pedro Montes Jr., 19.  
  He also was arrested for drag racing acceleration, and contest.  
  All four individuals were transported to the Matagorda County Jail and booked on their respective charges.
