Spring is the best time for preventive care so you don’t get surprised by a summer emergency.
A few quick inspections and small fixes now keep systems running efficiently, extend equipment life, and save on costly repairs.
Here is a simple checklist that shouldn’t take more than an hour to check.
HVAC: Replace filters, clean out the vents and test cooling on the thermostat, and listen for any odd noises.
If the unit didn’t get a fall tune-up, schedule service for cleaning and refrigerant check.
Gutters and downspouts: Clear the debris, consider flushing with a hose and.
Check that the downspouts direct water away from the foundation.
Roof and attic: Have you noticed any loose or missing shingles.
Signs of leaks or moisture in the attic, then look for daylight through roof boards.
Windows and doors: Check your weatherstripping and see if it needs to be replaced.
Inspect and or repair your screens and lubricate hinges or tracks.
Exterior Wood and deck: Tighten up any loose boards and railings.
If paint is peeling around the windows check to see if you should re-caulk and paint before hurricane season.
Plumbing and spigots: Check for leaks, insulate exposed pipes, and test hose bibs and irrigation for proper function.
Safety checks should be made to all smoke/carbon monoxide alarms and review your fire extinguisher readiness.
If there is any major damage, remember to always call a pro.
Now that that is said, go enjoy your summer and I will see you in June!
