Van Vleck High School student and band member Erik Adamian was recognized as an Outstanding Performer at the 2026 UIL Texas State Solo-Ensemble Contest (TSSEC), one of the highest individual honors awarded to Texas student musicians.
The Outstanding Performer designation is reserved for exceptional performances at the state level. Of the estimated 100,000 students who participate in UIL music contests each year, only about 2–3% of state solo performances receive this distinction.
In recognition of his achievement, Adamian was awarded the UIL State Gold Medal.
According to UIL, this is the same medal presented to all UIL State Champions across Texas.
