BCPD wants Bay City to be safe this July 4th

From BCPD

The Bay City Police Department (BCPD) urges all residents to celebrate the nation’s 250th anniversary responsibly and safely on Saturday, July 4, 2026.
Several community events are scheduled throughout the day, including the Bay City Freedom Fireworks 2026 at LeTulle Park from 6 to 10 p.m., with the fireworks display beginning at approximately 9:30 p.m..
BCPD encourages families to attend and enjoy this celebration in a safe, controlled environment.
Residents are reminded that within the city limits, City Ordinance 42-80 strictly prohibits the possession or use of fireworks without a valid permit issued under the city’s fire prevention code..
Violations may result in citations, with fines ranging up to $2,000, upon conviction through the Bay City Municipal Court.
BCPD also wants to make it clear:
Discharging firearms in celebration is illegal, dangerous, and will not be tolerated.
Firing a weapon into the air or in any unsafe manner, places innocent lives at risk.
What goes up will come down, and these reckless actions can result in serious injury or death..
Individuals found discharging firearms within the city limits will face criminal charges.
For those hosting gatherings, please be mindful of your neighbors by keeping noise levels reasonable and ensuring alcohol consumption is responsible.
For those who choose to drink, do not get behind the wheel - use a designated driver or arrange for safe transportation.
BCPD will take enforcement action when necessary to ensure the safety of the community.
