Bay City Police Department’s Patrol Division and Criminal Investigations Division responded to an unusually busy Fourth of July weekend.
In addition to the normal weekend call volume, officers handled numerous fireworks-related calls throughout the city.
Officers also responded to two separate gun-related incidents during the early morning hours of Sunday, July 5.
The first incident occurred at about 3:45 a.m. in the 2900 block of Avenue C.
Officers responded to reports of gunfire and located multiple spent shell casings in the roadway, reports show.
Fortunately, there was no evidence that anyone or any property had been struck by the gunfire.
Approximately one hour later, officers responded to a second shooting in the 800 block of Avenue F, after surveillance cameras captured the incident. Multiple vehicles and at least one apartment were struck by gunfire, officers said.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Investigators observed a light-colored four-door sedan leaving the area shortly after the shooting.
At this time, investigators believe the two shootings, and possibly other recent incidents, may be connected.
Bay City Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying those responsible and helping bring an
end to this violence, police said.
Anyone with surveillance video or information related to either incident is encouraged to contact Detective Christopher Cunningham at the Bay City Police Department.
