The Wharton Counnty Junior College Foundation announced the awarding of $92,000 in scholarships to 23 graduating high school seniors from across the College’s service area.
Each recipient will receive a $4,000 scholarship to pursue their education at Wharton County Junior College.
Since launching its scholarship program in 2017, the WCJC Foundation has steadily expanded its investment in student success, growing both the number of scholarships awarded and the communities served.
Today, the program is open to graduating seniors throughout the WCJC service area, helping remove financial barriers and making higher education more accessible.
“One of the Foundation’s greatest priorities is ensuring that financial challenges do not stand in the way of a student’s education,” said Gary Gillen, President of the WCJC Foundation Board of Directors.
“These scholarships represent an investment not only in talented students, but also in the future workforce and communities of our region. We are proud to partner with our generous donors to help these students achieve their goals.”
The 2026 WCJC Foundation Scholarship recipients are:
Boling High School: Adam Hutchinson, Liana Arriaga, Diego Velasquez, Cheyenne Brooks, Audrina Rodriguez
East Bernard High School: Carly Horta, Tyler Zurovec
Louise High School: Evan Jacinto, Connor Gonzalez
Needville High School: Luke Novak, Carly Anes, Adam Bartley
Wharton High School: Sariah Jasso, Ilah Allen-Gutierrez, Adam Julius Gomez
Academy of the Imaginative Mind: Andres Ouimette
Bay City High School: Ciara Aguilar, Kenneth Cervantes
Van Vleck High School: Brayden Weathers
Palacios High School: Ethan Kolar
Fulshear High School: Brandon Le
George Ranch High School: Ifunaya Egbo
Cinco Ranch High School: Kendal Novak
Scholarship recipients were selected through a competitive application process that included academic achievement, an essay, and demonstrated financial need.
Preference was given to students whose scholarship support would significantly reduce financial barriers to attending WCJC.

“Every scholarship represents an opportunity for a student to pursue their education with greater confidence and less financial burden.
“As we celebrate WCJC’s 80th anniversary, we are especially grateful to invest in the next generation of nurses, teachers, business leaders, technicians, and community servants who will shape the future of our region.”
The WCJC Foundation exists to advance the mission of Wharton County Junior College by providing educational opportunities and financial support for students and institutional programs.
Through scholarships, grants, and community partnerships, the Foundation continues to expand access to higher education while strengthening the workforce throughout the region.
