Tidehaven bi-district champ with 42-29 win over Rogers

   The Tidehaven Tigers put together 530 yards of total offense to defeat the Rogers Eagles 42-29 in the bi-district championship game in Navasota, Nov. 12.  
   Tidehaven had 467 yards rushing and 63 yards passing with five rushing touchdowns and two field goals.   
   Rogers, by comparison, had 104 yards rushing and 136 yards passing.  
   Quarterback Logan Crow had the game-high 304 yards rushing on 23 carries and two touchdowns.  
   Running back Joseph Dodds had 20 carries for 139 yards rushing and three touchdowns.  
   Crow was 5 of 6 for 63 yards passing.
Jose Martinez had a catch for 25 yards and Jachen Duran had three catches for 23 yards.   
   Tiger Jordan Duran had two forced fumbles and he recovered one.  
   Jerry Johnson also forced a fumble.  
   Blaike Montague had a stripped fumble/recovery that he ran back for 17 yards.  
   Alex Cisneros hit field goals of 36 and 30 yards and was also 4 for 4 on points after touchdown (PAT).  
   The Tigers will play Odem in the area round of the UIL state championship playoffs next week in Victoria Memorial Stadium at 6 p.m. Saturday.  
   The District 16-3A-2 champion Odem Owls are undefeated, with a 59-25 decision over Karnes City – mounting 534 total offensive yards - in its bi-district game last week.  
   The Owls average 325 rushing yards per game, featuring a running back duo of Hunter Dawson (176 carries for 1,085 yards and 19 touchdowns) and Marcus Martinez (137 carries for 984 yards with 10 touchdowns).  
   In contrast with its rushing game, Odem averages 84 yards passing per game.   
  “Odem is a very large team. They seem to run straight at their opponents,” said Tiger Head Coach David Lucio.  
   “Defensively they tackle well and have a hard-hitting secondary.  
   “Their quarterback is very athletic. We will need to do a good job of containing him if we want to have a shot at the upset.”
