Tidehaven lost its starting quarterback in last Friday’s defeat to East Bernard 41-10.
“We played well considering how young we are,” said Head Coach David Lucio.
“We lost our starting quarterback at the beginning of the second quarter after a 90 yard run,” Lucio explained.
“He wasn’t able to return, so we had to play a freshman from there on.
“Our young kids played great, but we just had a few big plays we allowed that cost us,” Lucio said.
“The Danbury game will be huge,” he remarked.
“This is the best Danbury team in the last ten years.
“The winner will take the third (playoff) spot and the loser will take the fourth spot.”
The third place team will play Rogers and the fourth place team will play powerhouse Franklin, Lucio added.
“We will be playing a freshman at quarterback, but we have a lot of confidence in him.”
In its game with East Bernard, Tidehaven had 201 yards rushing and 60 yards passing.
East Bernard had 99 yards rushing and 99 yards passing.
Quarterback Logan Crow had a game-high 117 yards rushing on 12 carries.
Tiger Joseph Dodds had 37 yards on 11 carries and a touchdown.
Kicker Alex Cisneros had a field goal and a PAT.
