"Bay City faces old foe in matchup with Sealy" by: Mike Reddell

Bay City will host a longtime opponent in Sealy this Friday at the new Memorial Stadium.
The Blackcats had their game with Vidor canceled last Friday because of the aftermath problems with Hurricane Nicholas that swept through Matagorda County.
Bay City (2-1) is led by freshman running back Jada Andrews with 55 carries for 365 yards, three touchdowns and averaging 122 yards per game.
Junior running back Ayden Smith has eight carries for 187 yards – 23 yards per carry – and three touchdowns.
Bay City is averaging 255 yards of offense per game – 208 yards rushing and 47 yards passing.
On defense, Blackcat Carlon    Jones leads with 28 tackles, followed by Caden Bradford with 21 tackles, Karius Luster, 19 tackles and Joshua Williams, 15 tackles.
Bay City is coming off a 21-9 win over Wharton Sept. 10.
Sealy (2-2) lost its last two games to Lake Creek (41-34) and to Stafford (28-14), earlier beating Brazosport 43-14 and Navasota 40-30.
“Sealy has a great program so it should be a good last game heading into our bye week,” said Head Coach Robert Jones.
“They have a quarterback that is a multiple threat that we will definitely have to contain,” Jones added.
“We will put in a good week of work and put our best effort forward.
“If our defense creates turnovers like they did against Wharton, I like our chances because soon or later our offense is going to get rolling,” Jones commented.
Sealy quarterback D’Vonne Hmielewski was that district’s MVP as a sophomore and has compiled 46 of 72 for 711 yards, with eight TDs and four interceptions.
His main target is Haden Wernecke, who has 22 catches for 277 yards passing and 47 carries for 239 yards rushing.
